This small-group tour of the Chacchoben Maya Ruins—one of the most popular attractions near Costa Maya—also offers an optional trip to a beach club. Meet your guide near the port in Costa Maya and head out to the archeological site, which you’ll explore for roughly 1.5 hours. On the return journey, stop at a beach club at Playa Mahahual (optional) before drop-off.

Important details and advisements

  • Flash bulbs, tripods, and professional video equipment or still cameras with extended lenses are prohibited at the archaeological site. Guests taking videos in any format (video cameras, cell phones, tablets, etc.) will be charged government fee of approximately $8-$10 USD payable in cash at site.
  • This tour utilizes an audio system that provides guests with headset units to use during the tour. These units will assist the users with hearing the narration provided by the guides and are to be returned at the end of the tour.
  • Alcohol may be available, please drink responsibly.
  • Only UV protective clothing (rash guard) or biodegradable sun protection are permitted in an effort to protect our oceans.
  • Guests should be in good physical health, with no heart or breathing issues.
  • Guests who are pregnant should not select this tour.
