Description
Overview
You and Aaron Ashmore will hone your tequila and mezcal expertise with a tasting of exquisite varieties of these two popular drinks woven into Mexico’s rich history and culture.
Highlights
- A short drive delivers you to your tasting room, an air-conditioned seaside terrace on the beautiful Stingray Beach, where you’ll start with an incisive introduction to how tequila is derived from the blue agave plant.
- Learn the lip-smacking history of Mexico’s unofficial national drink, which exploded in popularity during the Mexican Revolution, and the secrets to producing premium tequila, which by law must contain 100 percent agave.
- Test your palate with a tasting of three excellent tequilas as well as three varieties of mezcal, the legendary drink with the distinctive, smoky flavor. Under the expertise of your guide, compare the characteristics of the two drinks and pair them with tacos, guacamole and more exotic snacks. (Fried crickets, anyone?)
- Finish your day by shopping for tequila and mezcal to take back to your ship and enjoy back home.
